Gateway Moving and Relocation

I selected Gateway from seven or eight quotes to move my household from Costa Rica to France. The price was good and the company was great at the start - responsive, willing to provide the information I requested. But once they packed my goods in early February, things changed. A week afterward, I contacted to ask what the actual volume was as I had added items and wanted to make sure everything could still fit into a 20-foot container. The response: Why do you want to know? Well, I'm the client, I have a right to know! And then I was asked if it was urgent that they tell me. Finally, they gave me the actual volume. I also asked what port the ship was going to arrive at (just out of curiosity) and was asked in a very snotty way why I wanted to know. They also insisted that I provide paperwork that I told them repeatedly I could not supply as I'm not a French national, they told me the information on the French customs website was wrong and that they knew better, they made me sign a humiliating letter of indemnity saying that I had refused to follow their 'professional advice' and understood that 'failure to provide these documents will result in my shipment being subject to import duties and taxes' -- lo and behold, my shipment faced NO import duties and taxes. They were unpleasant, hard to work with and provided incorrect advice/information. I even got my lawyer involved as a middleman because they were so difficult. When my goods finally arrived in France in mid-July, the two people who came to unload the truck told me they were there only to unload the boxes from the truck and rebuild the furniture - not, as my contract with Gateway stated, to empty and remove all boxes. Tons of stress for me that I certainly did not need. The problem was finally resolved but they were there for more than 9 hours (just two men). My heart is crying

Today I opened my jewelry box to find my opal earrings and necklace are gone as well as a second pair of opal earnings. A set of silver earrings with amethyst stones my dad gave me are gone, a set of sapphire earrings and necklace gone. My husband gave these to me when we first started dating. A pearl necklace his mom gave me on our wedding day. A set of diamond earrings he gave me for our anniversary. A set of pearl earrings gone. A set of silver raven earrings my daughter gave me are gone.
A pouch of silver keepers gone. A pouch that contained coins given to me when both my children had been born by my aunt.(1 silver dollar for 1973 and 1 for 1974, 1 fifty cent piece for 1973 and 1 for 1974, 1 quarter for 1973 and 1 for 1974, 1 dime for 1973 and 1 for 1974, and 1 nickel for 1973 and 1 for 1974. I was going to give these to the kids when I passed making sure they knew they came from their great Aunt Patricia. After all these years of carrying them everywhere we have lived they are gone. I had a pouch with the paw print of my late cat in ceramic in there also. It’s gone. Everything of value that was in there is gone. There are no words to say how I feel right now.

I asked my husband if he had looked in his chest. He hadn’t. We went in and he opened it. His wedding band is gone, the gold ring with the diamond in it is gone. His father gave him that ring. A gold ring with his initial is gone and the silver ring his mother gave him is gone. A gold motorcycle pendant I gave him is gone. Everything of value is gone.

Then there were the broken smashed things. The damage to my husbands brand new Indian motor cycle.
The demands for more money than was quoted, the length of time it took to get our stuff.

It’s been a night mare.

Do not use these people. Runaway,runaway fast. Don’t look back. If you deal with these people you will be sorry.Leer más
